Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) was established in 1951 and is a full-service financial institution proactively promoting the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." History
A group of Eaton employees met with representatives of the nationwide credit union movement and ten individuals deposited $1 to establish their share accounts in 1951. In 1951, the credit union was federally chartered. Initial field of membership consisted of active and retired employees of Pump Division, Eaton Manufacturing Company located in Marshall, Michigan. In 1967, the board of directors and members voted to convert to a state charter and changed names to Eaton Marshall Credit Union. In 1971 and with 97%-member saturation, the credit union expanded to include three divisions of the Eaton Corportation. In 1976 and with 99%-member saturation, the field of membership changed to include employees of all industries within the city of Marshall and surrounding townships. At this time, the credit union changed names to Marshall Industrial Credit Union. In 1983, the credit union truly became a community financial institution, changing its name to Marshall Community Credit Union and serving individuals employed or residing in Marshall and surrounding townships. In 2002, MCCU expanded its field of membership to Calhoun County, and in 2007, its field of membership expanded to include Jackson, Hillsdale, Branch, St. Joesph, Kalamazoo, and Barry counties.
